Trace Route

What does trace route do?  Trace route allows you to monitor the Internet path and availability of the domain or IP you want to check.  A trace route will give you the exact path your request travels to the destination in seconds.

The output provides you with the path the packet traveled with the time interval for each "hop".  You can see below that this trace route to www.ibm.com provides the path of routers, servers and suppliers all measured in milliseconds.
